How it works

Expert help in three steps

No appointments, no service-call fees, no strangers wandering your house. Just the answer you need, when you need it.

  1. Tell us about the job

Pick the trade, describe the problem, and snap a photo. A tripping breaker, a leaky valve, a wall you want gone.

  2. Choose your expert

Browse license-verified pros by trade, experience tier and reviews. See exactly what each minute costs before you call.

  3. Hop on a video call

Point your phone at the problem. Your expert sees what you see and walks you through it. The first 5 minutes with each new expert are free.

For homeowners

Do it yourself. Not by yourself.

Most home projects are 80% routine and 20% "wait, is this right?" Call the Trades is for that 20%.

Get a seasoned pro's eyes on the job for a few minutes, not a few hundred dollars, and finish with confidence.

  • Find out if it's really a DIY job before you start
  • Buy the right parts and tools the first time
  • Have a pro check your work before you close up the wall
  • Pay by the minute and hang up anytime

For tradespeople

Get paid for what you know.

You've spent years learning things no video tutorial can teach. Earn $75–$150 an hour sharing it from your phone, with no truck, no travel and no estimates that go nowhere.

Semi-retired or winding down? Your decades on the job are exactly what homeowners need.

  • Top pay from day one for founding experts
  • Take calls when it suits you, from anywhere
  • Turn video calls into in-person jobs when it makes sense
  • Help the next generation of DIYers and apprentices
